Re: Engineering as a career
I got into electronic engineering by a less conventional route, via my local college having achieved a bare minimum at school. I was stuck in dead end labouring jobs and was actually weeding a vegetable patch when I phoned the college and asked about electronic engineering as I'd always been interes...

Re: Antweight Motors
Thanks Peter, Variant looks absolutely lethal!
I think I'm going to start with something very similar to Antrax but with wheels. Do you find the tracks vulnerable?

Re: Antweight Motors
I like the idea of the PCB chassis as I'm making one anyway so it's like getting a precision engineered, custom part thrown in free!
I'll play around with some designs and post them, see what everyone thinks.

Antweight Motors
Hi all, This will be my first build and I want to make something fairly generic so I can mess about with different motors servos etc. I'm planning on making a PCB, to also act as a chassis, an build the motor controllers on that. Re: Advice for a newbie please
Thanks for the help Joey, love the radio conversion! I often wonder if I get more of a kick out of stuff like that than building from scratch. I think for my first robot I'll just get the general cheapo ebay bits and get something going. I'm sure I'll learn a ton on the way.

Re: Advice for a newbie please
Thanks Gary,
I'm going to try and get to an AWS as soon as I can, even if I don't have a robot. Thanks for the advice, I don't want to motor off down a blind alley and get disappointed before I get started just because of a lack of planning!

Advice for a newbie please
Hello all, The upcoming new series of Robot Wars has reminded me how much I loved it and always aspired to make a fighting robot. So with that shot in the arm I started looking into it and ended up here. I think I would like to start with an antweight as they seem popular, affordable and it's the so...
